A cost estimate form for WordPress: a short wizard that prices the job and saves the enquiry as a lead. A visitor who wants a number and cannot get one leaves, and a contact form that promises a quote "within 48 hours" is the same thing with extra steps — by the time you reply they have three other prices.
QuoteForge asks area, quality and extras, and shows a running total that updates as they choose. The total is recomputed on the server before anything is saved, so the price you honour is one you set, not one a browser sent you.

## What it does

- ✓Multi-step wizard: number, slider, select, radio, checkbox, date and text fields
- ✓A price on every option plus one formula per wizard — area * grade + addons — with no eval anywhere in it
- ✓Live running total, recalculated server-side before it is stored
- ✓Conditional fields that appear only when a rule says so
- ✓Submissions become a lead pipeline: new, quoted, won, lost
- ✓CSV export and an emailed copy of the total to you and the visitor

## What you need

- •WordPress 6.0 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer
- •No WooCommerce and no page builder required — it runs on plain WordPress
- •A price list you are willing to publish: the wizard can only show a number you have decided on

## What QuoteForge does not do

- —It does not take payment. It produces a quote and a lead; turning that into an order is a separate conversation, which for most trades is the point.
- —It does not decide your prices. Every figure it shows is one you entered.
- —It is not a general form builder. There are no file uploads, no signature fields and no image-button options; the wizard exists to arrive at a number.
- —It does not produce a PDF. The quote goes out as a plain email with the total; the answers stay in the lead record on your site.
- —It does not hide the running total. The visitor sees the estimate from the first step; the contact details are asked for at the end, not as a gate.

## Questions

Can a visitor tamper with the price? +
No. The running total in the browser is for the visitor’s benefit; the total is recomputed on the server before anything is saved, so the figure you honour is one your own settings produced. Is the formula engine safe? +
There is no eval in it. Formulas are tokenised and evaluated, which means a string typed into the editor can never become code that executes on your server. How do I define the price? +
Two places. Each option on a select, radio or checkbox field carries a price; number and slider fields pass their value through. Then one formula per wizard combines the field ids, for example area * grade + addons, with the usual arithmetic, comparisons and brackets. Can I hide the total until the visitor leaves their contact details? +
No. The estimate is shown from the first step and updates as they answer; name and email are asked for on the last step before the quote is saved. Showing the number early is what keeps people in the wizard, so there is no setting to withhold it. How do I put the form on a page? +
With the shortcode: [quote_form id="123"], where the id is the wizard’s post id, shown on its edit screen. It works in any editor that accepts shortcodes. There is no dedicated block. How many forms can I build? +
As many as you need on one site. Each wizard is its own entry with its own shortcode and its own formula. Does it send a PDF quote? +
No. When email is enabled the visitor gets a plain-text message with the estimated total, and the admin address gets the name, email and total. The full set of answers is stored with the lead and exports to CSV. What happens to a submission? +
It becomes a lead with a state: new, quoted, won or lost. Every answer and the server-side total are stored with it, and the whole pipeline exports to CSV. Does it need WooCommerce? +
No. QuoteForge is not selling anything at the moment the form is submitted; it is quoting. Plain WordPress is enough.
