# Reorder point calculator

How many you sell a day, how long the supplier takes, and how much buffer you keep. The stock level at which the next purchase order has to go out.

## How it is calculated

Reorder point = average daily sales × lead time in days + safety stock.
When stock falls to this level, order. If demand and lead time behave as expected, the delivery arrives as the safety stock is reached.

## Questions

### How much safety stock do I need?

Enough to cover the worst realistic combination of high sales and a late delivery. The safety stock calculator works it out from your maximums.

### Should I use calendar days or working days?

Whichever your sales figure uses. If you sell seven days a week, use calendar days for both.

### What if sales are seasonal?

Recalculate before the season with the expected daily rate, not last month’s. A reorder point set in January runs out in November.
