SeatCraft documentation

Seat named guests at tables. Weddings, galas, awards dinners.

Before you start

  • WordPress 6.0 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer
  • An image of the venue: a photograph of the room, a PNG, a JPG or an SVG floor plan
  • Your guest list, as a CSV — one row per person
  • No WooCommerce. Nothing on a SeatCraft plan is sold, so no shop is needed

What it does not do

  • It does not sell seats. Nobody pays for a place at a wedding — the host assigns them. If you want visitors to choose and pay, that is Seat Map.
  • It does not send the invitations or collect the RSVPs by email. It records the replies you already have.
  • It does not manage catering orders or supplier invoices. Meal choices are counted per guest, not ordered.

What is in the download

A single WordPress plugin ZIP. Nothing is fetched from us at runtime and no part of the plugin calls home: once it is installed, your guest list stays on your server.

The download also contains the plugin’s readme and its licence key field. GPL source, unobfuscated — any developer you hire can read and change it.

Installing it

In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, install and activate. If your host rejects the upload for size, unzip it locally and copy the folder into wp-content/plugins over SFTP instead.

Paste the licence key from your purchase email when the plugin asks for it. The key is what entitles the installation to updates; the plugin runs without it, it just stops receiving new versions.

Your first plan

Create a plan, upload the venue image, and draw tables over it. A round table and a long trestle are both just shapes with a capacity, so the plan can be as close to the real room as your photograph is.

Import the guest list before seating anyone: it is much faster to drag names onto tables than to type them in one at a time, and the CSV import is where plus-ones and meal choices arrive.

Publish the plan with the block or the shortcode. Guests who open it can search for their own name; they cannot move anybody.

Licence, updates and support

  • One licence covers 1 WordPress site.
  • 1 year of updates, from the date of purchase.
  • 1 year of email support.
  • Instant download + licence key by email
  • 30-day money-back guarantee

Questions this page does not answer go to support@webkoding.com. If you bought from us and cannot find your licence key, look it up here.

Common questions

Does it need WooCommerce?

No. A wedding seat is not a product — the host decides who sits where, so there is nothing to add to a cart. SeatCraft installs on plain WordPress.

Can guests pick their own seat?

Not by design. Guests can find their own name through the search box on the published plan; assigning is the host’s job. If you want visitors to choose and pay for a place, that is Seat Map, not this.

Where do plus-ones and dietary requirements live?

On the guest, not in a note field. Each person carries their RSVP state, meal choice, dietary requirement and group, so the meal tally is counted rather than kept in your head.

Can I print the plan?

Yes — a printable seating plan and printable table cards, from the same data as the on-screen plan, so the two cannot disagree.

How many events can one licence run?

As many as you like. The licence counts WordPress installations, not weddings.
