VAT rates in Czech Republic

| Reduced | 12% | Specific goods and services the country lists, such as food, books or accommodation. |
How Czech Republic compares
21% is 0.9 points below the EU average of 21.9%. 13 of the 27 member states charge more.
Czech Republic does not use the euro, so the calculator above works in CZK.
Worked example
A product priced at CZK 1,000.00 before VAT sells for CZK 1,210.00 at the standard 21%: the VAT is CZK 210.00.
Going the other way, a shelf price of CZK 1,000.00 with VAT included is CZK 826.45 net. Dividing by 1.21 gets you there; taking 21% off the gross does not, and is the most common mistake people make with VAT.
At the lowest reduced rate, 12%, the same CZK 1,000.00 net becomes CZK 1,120.00.
Selling to customers in another EU country
Once your sales to consumers in other EU countries pass €10,000 in a year — all of them together, not per country — you charge each customer the VAT rate of the country they live in, not your own. You do not register in every country for that: the One-Stop Shop (OSS) lets you declare and pay all of it through one return in your home country.
Sales to VAT-registered businesses are different. With a valid VAT number from the buyer, the invoice usually carries no VAT and the buyer accounts for it under the reverse charge. Check the number in the EU's VIES service before you rely on it.
Charging Czech Republic VAT in WooCommerce
Under WooCommerce → Settings → Tax → Standard rates, add a row with the country code CZ, a rate of 21, and leave the state and postcode empty. Each reduced rate goes in its own tax class (Reduced rate, or one you add), with a CZ row of its own, and products that qualify are assigned to that class.
If one product you sell is really two things taxed at different rates — a meal deal with food and drink in it, a gift box with a book — a single tax class cannot be right for it. SplitVAT divides that product's price across the tax classes you already have, so the order shows each part at its own rate. It is our plugin, and you only need it if your products are like that.

Where these rates come from
Rates checked on 30 October 2026 against the published rate data and each country's 2026 changes. Rates move — ten member states changed a reduced rate in 2026 alone — so confirm the rate for your product with the tax authority before you file. The EU's official database, filled in by the member states themselves, is Taxes in Europe (TEDB).
The calculator runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
