Why this exists

What Seat & Space Reservation Map does not do

  • It does not process payments on its own. Charging for a seat requires WooCommerce and your own gateway; without one it takes reservations rather than money.
  • It does not manage staff rotas, kitchens or table service. It ends at the booking.
  • It does not integrate with an external booking channel or an OTA. Bookings live on your site.

Questions

Do I have to use WooCommerce?

No. There are two routes on purpose: WooCommerce checkout when you are charging, and a built-in reservation form when you are not. A restaurant taking free table bookings does not need a shop.

Does availability update without reloading the page?

Yes. Availability is checked live, so two people looking at the same map do not both take the last table.

Can seats be booked by time slot rather than for the whole day?

Yes — opening hours, closed days and per-seat time slots are all set on the map, which is what makes it usable for a restaurant service or a coworking desk as well as a cinema screening.

How do I put the map on a page?

A Gutenberg block or a shortcode, whichever suits your theme. Both render the same map.

Can I see the bookings as a list?

A list, a calendar view, and a CSV export. The calendar is usually what the person on the door wants; the CSV is what the accountant wants.
