The federal GST is 5% everywhere. Five provinces fold it into a single harmonised sales tax (HST); the others add their own provincial tax on top, or none.
Selling to customers in Canada from abroad
A business outside Canada registers for GST/HST once its taxable sales to Canadian consumers pass C$30,000 in twelve months.
Worked example
At 13%, a price of CA$100.00 before GST/HST becomes CA$113.00, of which CA$13.00 is GST/HST.
The other way round, CA$100.00 including GST/HST is CA$88.50 before it — divide by 1.13 rather than taking 13% off, which is the usual mistake.
Charging Canada GST/HST in WooCommerce
Under WooCommerce → Settings → Tax → Standard rates, add one row per province with the country code CA and the province code in the State column (ON 13, NS 14, NB, NL and PE 15, QC 14.975, BC and MB 12, SK 11), plus a row with the State left empty at 5 for everywhere else.
