Reorder point calculator

How many you sell a day, how long the supplier takes, and how much buffer you keep. The stock level at which the next purchase order has to go out.
Reorder point
228 units
Sold during lead time
168 units
Days of cover at reorder
19 days

How it is calculated

Reorder point = average daily sales × lead time in days + safety stock.

When stock falls to this level, order. If demand and lead time behave as expected, the delivery arrives as the safety stock is reached.

Questions

How much safety stock do I need?

Enough to cover the worst realistic combination of high sales and a late delivery. The safety stock calculator works it out from your maximums.

Should I use calendar days or working days?

Whichever your sales figure uses. If you sell seven days a week, use calendar days for both.

What if sales are seasonal?

Recalculate before the season with the expected daily rate, not last month’s. A reorder point set in January runs out in November.

If you run WooCommerce

StockPulse watches sales velocity in WooCommerce and warns you before a product reaches its reorder point, instead of after it sells out. StockPulse is our plugin; the calculator above works the same whether you use it or not.
