How it is calculated

Sale total = price + shipping. eBay calculates the final value fee on the total amount of the sale, which also includes any sales tax the buyer pays.

Final value fee = category rate on the first $7,500 + 2.35% on any amount above.

Fees = final value fee + per-order fee + international fee where it applies.

Questions

How much does eBay take?

For most categories, 13.6% of the total the buyer pays plus $0.40 per order — about 14% on a typical sale, before promoted listings.

Does eBay charge fees on sales tax?

Yes. The final value fee is calculated on the total amount of the sale, including shipping and the sales tax eBay collects. Add the tax to the price if you want an exact figure.

What about promoted listings?

Promoted Listings are an extra ad rate you choose, charged only when the promotion leads to a sale. Add that percentage to the category rate to include it.
