International: EEA+1.29%

Fixed fee in other currenciesUSD 0.30, EUR 0.35, CAD 0.30, AUD 0.30

How it is calculated

Fee = amount × (rate + any international surcharge) + £0.30.

You receive = amount − fee.

To receive an exact amount, ask for (amount + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − rate). Adding the percentage on top is not enough, because the fee is charged on the larger figure too.

Questions

How much does PayPal charge in the UK?

PayPal payment: 2.9% + £0.30 per payment for domestic payers, with a surcharge for international ones.

Who pays the fee?

The seller. You can build it into your prices, but adding a separate surcharge for paying by card or PayPal is restricted in the UK and EU and in some US states.

Is currency conversion included?

No. Converting a payment into another currency carries its own charge on top of the rates above.

Where the figures come from

Fee schedule checked on 30 October 2026 against PayPal UK’s merchant fees page. Platforms change fees with notice, and some (VAT on fees, promotions, account-level pricing) vary by seller — confirm the current figures in your own account before you rely on a result.
