How it is calculated

Sale total = item price + shipping charged to the buyer.

Etsy fees = listing fee + 6.5% of the sale total + 4% of the sale total + €0.30 + 1.14% regulatory fee + the Offsite Ads fee if the sale came from one.

Profit = sale total − Etsy fees − what the item cost − the postage you paid.

Payment processing is charged on the total the buyer pays, including any sales tax or VAT collected on the order; enter prices including tax if that applies to you. The Offsite Ads cap of US$100 an order is not applied here.

Questions

How much does Etsy take from a sale?

For a shop in France, typically 11.64% of the sale total plus €0.30 and the listing fee — more if the sale came from an Offsite Ad.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and payment processing both apply to what the buyer pays for shipping, not only to the item price.

Can I opt out of Offsite Ads?

Shops under $10,000 in yearly sales can opt out. Above that, participation is required, at the lower 12% rate.

Is VAT charged on Etsy fees?

For sellers in the UK and EU, Etsy adds VAT to its fees unless a valid VAT number is on the account. Include it if it applies to you — it is not in the figures above.

If you run WooCommerce

If you also sell from your own WooCommerce store, WooFinance shows the same profit-after-fees figure for every order there. WooFinance is our plugin; the calculator above works the same whether you use it or not.

Where the figures come from

Fee schedule checked on 30 October 2026 against Etsy’s help-centre fee pages (fees, payment processing by country, regulatory operating fee). Platforms change fees with notice, and some (VAT on fees, promotions, account-level pricing) vary by seller — confirm the current figures in your own account before you rely on a result.
