How it is calculated

Fee = amount × (rate + any international surcharge) + A$0.30.

You receive = amount − fee.

To receive an exact amount, ask for (amount + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − rate). Adding the percentage on top is not enough, because the fee is charged on the larger figure too.

Questions

How much does Stripe charge in Australia?

Domestic card: 1.65% + A$0.30 per payment for domestic payers, with a surcharge for international ones.

Who pays the fee?

The seller. You can build it into your prices, but adding a separate surcharge for paying by card or PayPal is restricted in the UK and EU and in some US states.

Is currency conversion included?

No. Converting a payment into another currency carries its own charge on top of the rates above.
